2021 Audi E-Tron S and E-Tron S Sportback revealed

German car maker Audi has revealed the fully-electric E-Tron S and E-Tron S Sportback.

Audi has announced two new electric models, the 2021 Audi E-Tron S and 2021 Audi E-Tron S Sportback.

The all-wheel-drive SUVs produce 370kW and 973Nm from three electric motors – two driving the rear axle and one driving the front. The 0-60mph sprint (0-97km/h) is done in claimed 4.5 seconds.

Audi says the new type of 'quattro' system allows electronic torque vectoring, improving handling and safety due to increased levels of grip.

The two electric vehicles are powered by a 95kWh battery offering 360 kilometres of range in the E-Tron S, and 365km in the E-Tron S Sportback (based on the WLTP standard).

Both SUV body styles of the E-Tron are highly aerodynamic, with the E-Tron S claiming a coefficient drag of 0.28 and the E-Tron S Sportback 0.26 – just falling short of the Tesla Model X at 0.25.

The E-Tron models achieve this, in part, by utilising virtual exterior mirrors – cameras mounted on each door – in place of traditional glass mirrors.

The Audi E-Tron S and Audi E-Tron S Sportback are expected to arrive in Australia in the second half of 2021, with pricing yet to be confirmed for the new 'S' versions.

Pricing for the standard (non-S) 2020 Audi E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback start at $137,700 and $148,700 respectively.
