Video: Ford F-150 Raptor and Jeep Wrangler deployed to rescue sinking boat

The Ford F-150 Raptor and the Jeep Wrangler have had their off-road credentials put to the test during a recent incident in the United States, where the two cars were used to attempt to save a sinking boat.

The failed rescue occurred in Cedar Lake, Indiana, after a family's wake boat, worth a reported US$300,000, began sinking for reasons unknown.

Possibly without much thought to the consequences, the owner of the boat then allegedly deployed two of his own vehicles, a Jeep Wrangler and a Ford F-150 Raptor, in an effort to salvage the boat (possibly by towing it out of the water?).

Unfortunately, both cars were quite literally out of their depths.

Video of the incident was captured by onlookers and posted to Facebook, showing the two cars helplessly floating in the water as their respective drivers clung to the vehicles' sides.

"A family that lives on Cedar Lake attempted to rescue their sinking boat by using the family vehicles according to emergency personnel Saturday evening. We are told the owner did not bring his helicopter out to assist," a local news station reported.

"Currently they are dealing with Indiana Conservation Police and The Cedar Lake Fire Department Marine Unit."

The outcome of the rescue attempt is not known, we do know that the 2020 Jeep Wrangler has a wading depth of 76cm, while the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor boasts a wading depth of 81cm.

That all adds up to one hell of an insurance claim.
