2019-2020 Porsche Cayenne recalled for fire hazard

A defective fuel coupling could lead to a fire in the performance SUV.

Porsche Australia has issued a recall of 244 examples of its 2019-2020 Cayenne SUV due to a potential fire risk.

The recall includes model-year 2019-2020 Cayenne Turbo (9YA) and 2020 Cayenne Turbo e-Hybrid (9YA), Cayenne Turbo Coupe and Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe models (9YB).

Affected vehicles were sold between 29 November 2017 and 5 December 2019.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says a fuel line connector may leak at “very high engine temperatures”.

Should the leak occur in the presence of an ignition source, it may result in a fire, increasing the risk of serious injury to vehicle occupants, other road users and property, according to the recall.

CarAdvice has been told there are "no known cases of this fault in Australia".

Porsche Australia says replacement parts will not be available until the end of July 2020, but it is contacting owners now to inform them of the recall.

Owners of affected cars who smell fuel coming from their vehicle are asked to park the car safely and contact their nearest Porsche Centre immediately.
