Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder

If Supercars are your thing, then you might want to invest in a few English pounds and head over to the UK for the mother of all car shows, appropriately called MPH – The Prestige & Performance Motor Show.

All the big names will be there; Aston Martin, Ferrari, Bentley, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Maserati, McLaren, Caparo, Pagani and Porsche. A couple of other less familiar but super high end makes will be there too, Spyker and Arash.

Spyker, the long-standing Dutch car company who recently took over the Swedish Saab brand, will debut their ultra exclusive C8 Aileron Spyder and the brand new British designed and built Arash AF-10 will make its world first appearance at this year’s show.

I rate Spyker’s build quality and craftsmanship alongside that of Pagani – after being lucky enough to get up close and personal to the C8 Aileron at Le Mans in 2009, they truly are a work of art.

Using an Audi 4.2-litre V8 engine producing 400bhp, these things aren’t slow either. The company ran one of these cars at Le Mans that year (and again in 2010) and finished a credible 9th place. The Spyker was amazingly reliable while maintaining a blistering pace over the twenty-four hours.

Spyker road cars are completely bespoke, with a sleek aluminium framework and distinctive styling. The C8 Aileron Spyder comes with an automatic folding roof, which is a first for the company.

The Latin inscription on the car’s chassis reads, “Nulla Tenaci Invia Est Via” which in English translates, “For the tenacious, no road is impassable.”

MPH runs from November 4-7th at Earl’s Court and at the NEC in Birmingham from November 11-14th. www.mphshow.co.uk
