2021 Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro price and specs

Mercedes-AMG has confirmed Australia will receive an allocation of 15 of its GT R Pro models in September, despite earlier reports that the hardcore, track-focused model may not make it Down Under.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro will be built in a limited production run of just 750 cars globally, stripping weight and adding performance to the Mercedes-AMG GT R coupe on which it is based.

Last year, Drive was told Australia would not secure any of the 750 examples due to dwindling market demand for the model.

However, the Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro is now available for order priced from $453,200 plus on-road costs.

By comparison, a standard Mercedes-AMG GT R coupe starts from $368,700 plus on-road costs.

Powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 as the GT R, the GT R Pro produces 430kW and 700Nm sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Separating itself from its GT R stablemate, the GT R Pro gains track-focused revisions to its suspension, including electronically-adjustable spring preload, shock absorber compression and rebound, front and rear anti-sway bars, and mounts for the engine and transmission.

A track package that consists of a bolt-in steel roll cage with two rear braces and four-point safety harnesses for drivers and passengers also comes as standard. Additional chassis bracing comes by way of a carbon-fibre panel fitted to the rear underbody of the car.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro comes with forged 20-inch alloy wheels with lightweight ceramic composite brakes.

A carbon package – which adds aerodynamic aids such as a front spoiler, additional fins, and a rear diffuser all crafted in the exotic material – comes as standard.

Carbon-fibre bucket seats, side mirrors, rear wing, door trims and sills, centre console and a revised ceiling that adds clearance for occupants wearing helmets also come as standard on the GT R Pro.

In addition to the aero-styling of the body, the GT R Pro has racing stripes that run over the bonnet, roof and sides of the car.

Inside, the Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro comes with Nappa leather trim, rear privacy glass, seatbelts in a silver finish, and a retractable cargo area cover.
