Honda and The Brickman come together to create Mt Panorama from LEGO

To celebrate the success of season two of LEGO Masters on Channel 9, Honda has joined forces with Ryan 'The Brickman' McNaught to create a LEGO version of Australia's most famous race track: Mt Panorama.

The Bathurst street circuit holds a special place for the car maker after F1 champion Jenson Button set a blistering (though unofficial) lap time in a Honda Civic Type R back in May 2019.

Despite being in full street trim and road tyres, the 2 minute 35.207 time would have qualified Button second in the Civic's class for the endurance race held that weekend.

In April 2019 Honda commissioned a 1:1 replica of the Honda Civic Type R made entirely out of LEGO.

Also built by McNaught, the world-first model took 1300 hours and 320,000 LEGO bricks to create, helping to give the life-sized replica a weight of 1300kg – just 90kg shy of an actual Honda Civic Type R.

“The biggest challenge for us this year is the fact that we’ve got lots of moving pieces," said McNaught.

"Moving parts are very challenging to do with LEGO, let alone having cars actually racing around a LEGO model.”
