Hennessey’s Exorcist is a Camaro ZL1 with 746kW
The Texan tuning company has worked its magic on the already manic Camaro ZL1.
Texas-based tuning company Hennessey has begun testing of its aptly-named Exorcist – a modified Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 designed to compete with the Dodge Charger SRT Demon.
Thanks to extensive engine modifications to the standard Camaro ZL1's 6.2-litre supercharged V8 – including a larger supercharger, camshaft and cooling cores, a beefed-up valvetrain and freer-flowing intake system – the Exorcist produces a claimed 746kW and 1197Nm.
To put those numbers into perspective, a regular Camaro ZL1 – which is already a hotted-up version of the standard Camaro – produces 477kW and 881Nm.
Hennessey claims the bump in power brings the 0-60mph (0-97 km/h) time down to 2.1 seconds compared to the standard Camaro ZL1’s 3.5 second time.
The Exorcist will cover the quarter mile dash in a claimed 9.57 seconds at a speed of 237km/h, going onto a top speed of 350km/h for drivers willing.
The Hennessey Exorcist can also be optioned with an upgraded transmission, new 20-inch wheels, drag radial tyres for the rear and a track tool kit. Figures quoted above are taken from a test vehicle with these options fitted.
Limited to a planned 100 builds, each Hennessey Exorcist receives an individual build plate and – fully specified – is priced at US$119,950 (AU$180,000).
Perhaps most surprising, is that Hennessey offers a two-year/24,000 mile (39,000km) warranty to accompany all the added grunt.
