2020 Audi S6, S7 price and specs

Audi's mid-size sedan range receives an update and more standard equipment for 2020.

Audi Australia has announced pricing and specification for its updated 2020 model-year S6 TFSI and S7 TFSI sedans.

The models begin at $149,900 plus on-road costs for the S6 (in blue), with the larger S7 (in white) coming in at $159,500 plus on-road costs.

Both models receive a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine (331kW/600Nm) with Audi’s electric powered compressor designed to reduce turbocharger lag – the first time Audi has used the technology on a petrol engine.

These figures propel the S6 from 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.5 seconds, with the S7 covering the dash in 4.6 seconds.

A 48-volt mild-hybrid system is also equipped on both cars, able to add 6kW/60Nm to the petrol unit or allow emissions-free coasting at speeds between 55-160km/h for up to 40 seconds.

Inside, the models get Audi’s new twin-screen MMI interface, consisting of a 10.1-inch screen up top for navigation and Audi Connect Plus features with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8.6-inch touchscreen below for cabin and suspension controls.

The seats, dash and centre console are covered in Nappa leather in both models, with an option for an exposed carbon fibre dash available.

A panoramic sunroof comes as standard for both S6 and S7.

Both the S6 and the S7 receive matrix LED headlights, however the S7 also receives Audi’s laser light – technology the brand claims doubles the range of high beam lights – as standard.

Externally, both models get styling parts to differentiate them from the more pedestrian A6 and A7 models they are based on.

A black trim package comes as standard on both cars, coating the window sills, side mirrors and front grilles in black. The S6 also receives a small rear lip spoiler.

Both the S6 and S7 ride on 21-inch wheels, with each model getting three wheel design options at no extra cost.

Underneath, the models get S air suspension, 400mm front disc brakes – available with a carbon ceramic option that Audi claims halves the weight of the assembly – and 350mm rear brakes.

A dynamic package can be optioned which adds a sports differential that can redistribute torque between wheels depending on their varying levels of grip, all-wheel steering and dynamic steering.

Both S6 and S7 get Audi’s ‘pre-sense’ basic which offers a host of features including turn assist, adaptive cruise control and assist, hold assist, traffic pilot, pre-tensioning seat belts and autonomous collision avoidance assist.

The cars also come standard with loose wheel detection and cross-traffic assist.

The 2020 Audi S6 and S7 are available now and can be purchased through Audi’s new online reservation system. Additional details of the online purchasing system can be found here.
