2021 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe rendered

A set of convincing new – but speculative – renderings have surfaced online that might offer our best look yet at the new-generation BMW 4 Series.

In this case, it's the 4 Series Gran Coupe – the fastbacked four-door last spied in November last year.

Perhaps the most promising takeaway from these renderings is that, with a licence plate in position, the new 4er's buck-toothed visage won't be quite as overwhelming as it would otherwise appear.

The images, produced by Instagram user @zer.o.wt, appear to offer an overall authentic guess at the new model's look, with the roofline and slender lighting units all a good match for the prototypes spied in recent months.

We should see the new 4 Series revealed in the near future, with one report suggesting a June debut is on the cards. For Australia, we can likely expect a local launch to occur later this year or in early 2021.

Expect the new 4 Series Gran Coupe to be powered by the same range of 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre engines offered in the 3 Series, across both petrol and diesel. A plug-in hybrid is also likely, although BMW hasn't confirmed details.
