2020 Honda Civic sedan pricing

The model-year 2020 sedan receives a price hike, but no spec changes.

Pricing for the Honda Civic sedan has been raised across the range for 2020, but the four-door offering from the Japanese brand won't receive any specification changes in line with the rise.

Honda this week confirmed it had increased prices for the MY20 Civic sedan range, following the model's mid-life update back in February 2019, which saw VTi-L and RS models gain the Honda Sensing safety suite as standard.

The range now kicks off at $22,590 plus on-road costs for the entry-level VTi, representing a rise of $200 from 2019 pricing, while the VTi-S and VTi-L have also seen a $200 boost to $24,790 and $28,190 respectively, excluding on-road costs.

The RS has seen the biggest price rise, starting at $32,840 plus ORCs, an increase of $850 on the MY19 pricing (which started at $31,990). However, the once optionally available mica/metallic paint at $575 is now standard.

The sedan model range now tops out at $33,890 for the top-spec VTi-LX, up $200 from MY19 pricing.

Entry-level VTi and VTi-S Civic variants are powered by a 104kW/174Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, while the VTi-L, RS and VTi-LX boast a 127kW/220Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine.

All models are front-wheel drive, with power sent to the wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

The VTi-L, RS and VTi-LX all score the Honda Sensing safety suite as standard, including autonomous-emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam.

The base VTi comes equipped with single-zone climate control system, fabric seats, eight-speaker audio system, 7-inch infotainment touchscreen and reversing camera, while the VTi-S adds tech like keyless entry, push-button start, LaneWatch and parking sensors.

Pricing changes to Honda's Civic sedan range follow a recent pricing and spec update for the model's hatch variants, which brought increases of between $400 and $1250 across the range.

Those price hikes were implemented alongside the rollout of Honda Sensing active safety tech on mid-spec variants, plus the introduction of new wheel design, redesigned front and rear bumpers and some minor tweaks to interior trim, instrument panel and infotainment controls across all variants.

All new Honda vehicles attract a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
