Ford Australia has announced it will offer free home pick up and drop off of vehicles for customers during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The service is available for routine servicing and warranty repairs from now until 30 June 2020 – to be initially offered at selected dealerships.

Supplementing the service, Ford will also take extra measures to disinfect ‘major touch points’ of vehicles.

These include door hands, steering wheel and buttons, centre console, gear selector, park brake, all dash controls, armrests, and mirror, window and seat adjustment controls.

Ford’s service follows Australian car dealers having to get creative with contactless methods for test drives and purchase of new cars amid fears of viral transmission.

Last week, car dealerships and their associated workshops were deemed essential services by the Australian government.
