Revisions to the head and tail lights, and a new front and rear bumper design (combining a diffuser) modernise the new Q7’s looks.

Inside, the Q7 gets a new MMI infotainment system consisting of twin touchscreens – 10.1-inch and 8.6-inch – as standard. The two screens allow access to different controls and can register personalised settings for up to 400 functions.

The system can also recognise various ‘natural language’ commands, Audi stating that if a driver says a sentence such as “I’m cold”, the car’s interior temperature will be automatically increased.

Sunken into gloss black trim, the two screens also become nearly indiscernible when powered down.

All versions of the 2020 Q7 get a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine. In 45 TDI trim, the unit produces 170kW and 500Nm, with 50 TDI variants generating 210kW and 600Nm.

An eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, Audi's permanent all-wheel drive 'quattro' system and a 48 volt mild hybrid system all come equipped on the 2020 Q7 as standard.

All-wheel steering is also available on the new Q7 – able to steer front and rear wheels in the opposite direction at lower speeds to aid manoeuvrability, and in the same direction at higher speeds to improve stability.

The 50 TDI S line variant also receives firmer suspension and a ride height 15mm lower than baser models.

Audi offers nine exterior paint colours for the 2020 Q7 with a pearl effect offered exclusively on S line.

The 45 TDI variant rides on a 19-inch alloy wheel as standard. This diameter grows to 20-inches on 50 TDI and 21-inches for the 50 TDI S line.
