Around the tracks: Cars under street lamps, the Porsche Traykan and Audi’s new logo

Plus a Tesla that sounds like a Lamborghini and an exciting sighting on the streets of Melbourne.

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the CarAdvice team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

1. These portraits of cars under street lamps

This week, a photographic series from 1970s resurfaced online, depicting cars from that era sitting under street lights around New York City and New Jersey.

Captured by American photographer Langdon Clay, the striking images are like individual time capsules providing insight into both the architectural and automotive design of the time. You can see all the photos over at designyoutrust.com.

2. This Tesla Model 3 with supercar-level sound

Electric cars aren't exactly known for their thrilling exhaust notes, but UK exhaust manufacturer Milltek Sport decided to remedy this shortcoming by equipping a Tesla Model 3 Performance with a noise more typical of a Lamborghini.

As showcased in the below video from YouTube user Archie Hamilton Racing, Milltek Sport's sound generator kit is fitted under the body of the car and controlled by an app.

You can customise the sound to your liking with eight selectable sound files and volume and pitch controls, with options ranging from a V8 to a V12 engine.

3. The Porsche Traykan

Given electric utes are having a moment, it's perhaps unsurprising to see that even Porsche's electric sports car, the Taycan, couldn't avoid getting the pickup treatment.

In renderings created by design firm Adel Bouras, the two-door trayback version of the Taycan – aptly named the Traykan – comes to life. Look out, Cybertruck. To see more renderings, head here.

4. This showy Senna on the streets of Melbourne

CarAdvice photographer Mitch Thompson did a double-take this week when he spotted this McLaren Senna rolling down a main road in Melbourne's inner east.

We know there are at least 13 of the $1.4m 588kW/800N hypercars in Australia, but they're a rare sight. And with its gold rims and holographic paint work (not unlike the 675LT shade 'Amazon Colour Stream'), this one is truly a sight to behold at that.

5. Audi and Volkswagen logos take drastic social distancing measures

Because even Audi's iconic four rings have to remain 1.5 metres apart.
