Lamborghini teases track-only V12 hypercar

Lamborghini's Squadra Corse motorsport division has worked its magic on a next-level limited edition.

Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has released a teaser video of its latest project – a new, track-only V12 hypercar, developed by its racing arm, Squadra Corse.

Powered by a 6.5-litre V12 naturally aspirated engine, Lamborghini claims the limited-edition car will produce 830hp, about 619kW.

It's paired with a six-speed Xtrac sequential transmission, plus a mechanical self-locking differential, which the driver can preload dynamically based on track conditions.

The model, which is currently undergoing high-speed track testing, has been designed with safety and agility in mind.

"With an aluminium front frame and a carbon fibre monocoque, the hypercar has been designed to be of the highest safety standards while an innovative self-locking type differential which allows better driveability on the circuit," Lamborghini said in a statement.

A handful of unique features mark the new arrival out from its road-ready siblings, including a large rear wing, airscoop on the roof and racing hood with dual air intakes. The car features single-nut wheels, fitted with Pirelli tyres.

According to the newly-released video (which you can watch below), it also boasts a Formula 1-worthy note.

Lamborghini first teased the car back in October 2019, sharing an image showing a silhouette very similar to the Aventador.

The hypercar is in its final development stages, with a debut expected during the European summer – so likely mid-2020.

Lamborghini is yet to share the name of the new hypercar (some unconfirmed reports point to the moniker 'SVR'), nor the number of examples it will produce.
