Audi Australia has issued a recall of five of its 2019 Q7 (model code 4M) SUVs affected by a faulty airbag component.

Lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the defect related to a fastening for an air duct used to inflate the curtain airbag.

Audi reports that during an accident this fastening may detach, causing the airbag to not inflate sufficiently, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.

Audi Australia is contacting owners of affected vehicles. The company also suggests owners should call their nearest dealership to arrange inspection and repair of the faulty unit.

A full list of vehicle identification numbers of the five cars included in the recall can be found here.
