Artists post car colouring pages for grownups and kids alike to weather the weeks ahead

Doing your civic duty to 'social isolate'? Good on you, if you're able. Here's one way to help pass the time!

When I was about seven years old, I traced a drawing of the Transformers and mailed it into a TV show called The Cartoon Company (which, funnily enough, ran on the Nine Network, my current employer).

The hosts of the show held it up to the cameras, declared it a cracking good effort, and mailed me a box of Posca paint markers as a prize – and, terrible child that I was, I promptly set about painting the town red. And green. Blue, yellow, purple…

My kids know better, of course (so I tell myself), and all of their colouring happens exclusively in the pages of the books we buy them specifically for that purpose.

Now, while we're all busy 'social isolating', artists Will Pierce and Final Tenth have released a series of free colouring pages on their social media profiles for us all to print out and colour at our leisure.

You can find Will's zany super-deformed cartoony imaginings on Dropbox here, and Final Tenth's collection of iconic rally cars on Dropbox here.

What's more, design legend Ian Callum has thrown his hat into the ring, sharing three pieces with the UK's Auto Express right here. (Though I dare say, Pierce and Final Tenth have poured a lot more energy into theirs.)

I reckon that's a good 10 minutes of distraction for my kids this weekend…

On that note, good luck to us all in these uncertain times.

Feel free to hop into the comments below with some ideas and links (which we'll have to manually approve in the comments moderation queue, forgive us) for passing the time safely alone or with your fellow captives!

I'd appreciate it if the comments could focus on positive discussion rather than politics. We could certainly all do with it.

NOTE: The image at the top of this article is my own. I use an iPad Pro and a great Australian drawing app called Procreate. Check it out.
