Suzuki Jimny offered as ute by New Zealand dealer

The mini-off-roader is no stranger to customisation and now another variation is available.

A New Zealand Suzuki dealer is offering customers a ute version of its already-cutesie Jimny, as reported by Driven.

For willing customers, the Whanganui dealer will chop the rear end to fit an enclosed flat-deck tray, revised tail lights and interior trim pieces to suit. The best part? The conversion is certified.

However, what potential buyers might not find as cute as the finished product is the cost to get it there.

According to Driven, the Whanganui dealer is asking NZ$37,990 (AU$37,560) before on-road costs for the ute, however the donor model for the conversion is a manual-only JX variant.

This means all converted utes lose out on alloy wheels, LED headlights, leather steering wheel, climate control and touchscreen infotainment compared to the Sierra. By way of comparison, a manual Sierra can be had for NZ$25,990 (AU$25,720) before on-road costs.

Despite the cost, we here at CarAdvice are all for customisation of Suzuki’s Jimny, just like these DAMD Inc. dress-up bodykits.

CarAdvice has reached out to Suzuki Australia to see if there has been any interest in the conversion kit for local buyers and is awaiting reply.
