2015-2019 Mitsubishi Triton recalled over wiring fire risk

Thousands of utes affected, Mitsubishi to contact owners by mail.

More than 100,000 examples of the Mitsubishi Triton, across the MR and facelifted MQ generations and 2015-2019 model years, have been recalled to address a fire risk.

The company's Australian arm reports that affected utes may have incorrectly installed towbar wiring harnesses.

The issue could cause liquids to contact the electrical circuits, leading to a risk of overheating, burning, and fire.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia has confirmed it will contact affected owners by mail, offering to have the issue rectified for free at the owner's preferred dealer.

A list of affected models, ordered by VIN, can be found here. Concerned owners can contact Mitsubishi Motors Australia on 1800 931 811 or their preferred dealer on 1300 131 211 (choose Option 2, and Option 2 again).
