Jeep Australia cuts service prices – on most models

America's 4x4 brand reduces the cost of servicing most models over five years, by up to $1370 in the case of Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

Jeep Australia has slashed the price of servicing its SUV range by as much as $1370 over a five-year term in a bid to “enhance customer trust”.

While the company’s Australian arm already offered a capped-price servicing plan that set the maximum cost per visit, the new program is cheaper.

It’s designed to lure new buyers, because as the company says it covers “each 2020 Jeep model”.

Both petrol and diesel versions of the Compass have annual servicing intervals, but the petrol’s distance limit between visits is far shorter at 12,000km versus 20,000km. Nevertheless each model costs $1995 over five services, or $399 a pop. That’s $600 less than before.

Likewise, both 2.4-litre four-cylinder and 3.2-litre V6 Cherokee petrol models (12 month and 12,000km intervals) get capped price servicing plans that cost $1995 over five years, $655 less than the previous plan cost.

The 4x2 and 4x4 Grand Cherokee 3.6, the Grand Cherokee 5.7 V8, and the Grand Cherokee SRT Hemi, cost the same $1995 over five visits at 12-month/12,000km intervals, down by $600 for the former and $1020 for the latter V8s.

The Grand Cherokee 3.0-litre diesel has the longer 12-month and 20,000km intervals, and its five-year capped-price plan costs a claimed $2995, down $1290. The biggest saving is to be found on the hardcore Trackhawk V8, with five-years servicing now $3995 (down $1370).

The exception to the rule here is the brand new Wrangler. Five years of servicing the 2.2 diesel model (12-months and 20,000km) costs the same $2495 as before, while servicing the 3.6 petrol (12-months and 12,000km) now costs $500 more over five years, at $1995.

“We have worked extremely hard to analyse and intricately understand the Capped Price Servicing models in the Australian market to build a compelling and competitive offer for our Jeep customers. This is a key element to enhance customer trust,” claims Jeep Australia managing director Kevin Flynn.

“I believe a successful Aftersales business is key to delivering an end to end customer experience for Jeep owners and we are committed to enhancing what we offer our customers in this regard, starting with the 2020 Capped Price Servicing program.”

Jeep’s stance in Australia has taken a hit lately. It sold more than 30,000 cars in 2014, but in subsequent years its volumes and share have steadily fallen away: 24,418 sales in 2015, 12,620 in 2016, 8270 in 2017, 7326 in 2018, and 5519 last year. Sales are up 0.6 per cent this year.
