All three versions of the 2021 Ford Bronco line-up caught on camera weeks ahead of debut
Ford will launch not one but three versions of the Bronco in the coming weeks. Unfortunately none are confirmed for Australia.
Spy photos have emerged of all three versions of the new Ford Bronco just weeks before the line-up is due to be officially unveiled in the US.
The photo above shows a smaller Bronco Sport with a more SUV-like four-door body and car-like tyres for everyday use. It is said to be based on the same underpinnings as the Ford Escape SUV.
Meanwhile, the photos below (all of which have been published on numerous Ford Bronco forums in the US) show Ford will also offer two off-road versions in both short-wheelbase and long-wheelbase, wearing stand-alone Bronco badging.

The hardcore off-road versions have thick-tread tyres, wide fenders and provisions in the front bumper for a winch and tow hooks. One of the photos shows the heavy duty Broncos are equipped with a live rear axle with trailing arm suspension.
The two-door Bronco – a Jeep Wrangler rival – is available with a removable roof. It is unclear if the four-door off-road Bronco will also have a removable roof, however there appears to be a latch mechanism above the windshield.

Overseas reports claim the off-road versions of the Ford Bronco will be available with a choice of either a 2.3-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, borrowed from the Mustang, and the 2.7-litre turbo V6 petrol engine available in other Ford models.
The SUV-like Bronco Sport based on the Ford Escape, meanwhile, is said to be powered by a choice of a 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder petrol engine or 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine.
Exterior styling for all Bronco models is a nod to the classic design. The boxy front and rear end wears the Bronco name in bold, block letters and sharp angles are used throughout the body. The round headlight design is an homage to the first generation’s, however has been modernised as a ring of LEDs.

Unfortunately for local fans of the Bronco, Ford Australia has repeatedly said the off-roader is not planned for our market – even though previous generation Broncos were sold here during the 1980s and the modern version shares its architecture with the locally-developed Ford Ranger ute.
