2021 Audi e-tron GT spied testing for the first time
Audi's electric powerhouse, a clear rival to the Tesla Model S and a more affordable stablemate to the Porsche Taycan, has appeared.
The upcoming Audi e-tron GT has been spied testing for the first time, more than a year since it first appeared as a show car.
As a concept, the all-electric super tourer looked production-ready to begin with, and these spy photos confirm it wasn't far off.
Immediately, the standout difference appears to be a taller and rounder roofline, ensuring more useable headspace in the second row.
Whatever other changes we might eventually see in the final details, it is clear the e-tron GT will retain some of the super-wide stance that made its concept progenitor a favourite in the CarAdvice comments section.
At this point, no official details have been offered on the GT's final drive system. But, as a concept, the car was driven by a 434kW dual-motor electric system that rocketed it to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds.
A 90kWh battery pack featured, offering a claimed 400 kilometres of driving between charges – supposedly confirmed on the WLTP test cycle.
There's also an 800V charging system on board, offering buyers a quick 20-minute stop for 320 kilometres of range.
The production car's interior view eluded our spy photography partners, but – as with the outside – little about the cabin of the show car looked untenable as a market-ready design. Check it out below.
There's no word yet on an unveiling date for the e-tron GT, but the company has previously confirmed it intends to begin production towards the end of 2020 – which suggests we could see it unveiled at the Los Angeles motor show in November.
