While ‘aero’, ‘sport’ and ‘lounge’ are words rarely used in the same sentence, the French marque believes they’re all befitting for its newest concept model.

French luxury carmaker DS has revealed its Aero Sport Lounge electric vehicle concept.

DS's vision for its newest Aero Sport Lounge concept model appears to focus on three main principles: performance, efficiency and sustainability.

The French marque claims its experience in Formula E competition has been implemented in the Aero Sport Lounge’s electric powertrain, with a 110kWh battery pack and E-Tense technology found in other DS models translating to a 500kW output.

The figures are good for a claimed 0-100km/h dash in 2.8 seconds.

Few details of the Aero Sport Lounge's dimensions have been revealed, however DS states the body will come in at five metres long. By comparison, an Audi Q8 SUV marks the tape at 4.99 metres.

Rear doors will also be rear-hinged to provide additional accessibility for occupants.

With efficiency in mind, the Aero Sport Lounge’s long body will be steeply-raked for improved aerodynamic characteristics. Up front, side-grilles will feed air into the wheel arches, aimed at 23-inch alloys specially-designed to evacuate the air with minimal drag.

This emphasis on aerodynamic efficiency combined with the e-Tense electric system results in a claimed 650km driving range.

Inside, the Aero Sport Lounge concept focuses on intuitiveness and sustainability. DS claims that straw produced from rye using 17th century techniques will feature prominently in the model’s interior.

The concept model also does away with a conventional infotainment touchscreen, instead projecting the display onto a satin-cotton composite material on the dashboard that can be operated via hand gestures.
