2021 Mercedes-Benz EQA teased ahead of debut later this year

Mercedes-Benz is set to debut its all-electric EQA sometime before the end of this year after the model completed its winter testing near Sweden's Arctic Falls.

(Correction: This article originally stated the EQA will appear in Geneva next month. Rather, some new EQ-branded plug-in hybrids will appear there.)

The EQA will enter the Mercedes-Benz line-up as an electric alternative to the GLA small SUV, built on the same MFA II platform as the A-Class, B-Class, GLA, GLB, and CLA variants.

Externally, the EQA appears almost identical to the 2020 GLA, although it will likely feature a number of unique EV-specific styling features.

The EQA is expected to share the same dual-screen infotainment system, three central air vents on the dashboard, and a row of toggle switches below as other MFA II-platformed models.

Range is expected to be about 500km, topping the 480 kilometres claimed by the entry variant of Tesla's Model Y.

The EQA will join the EQB and EQE in Mercedes-Benz’s electric line-up. Release of these models is expected for sometime during 2021, with Mercedes planning to have 10 electric models on sale by the following year. An electrified G-Class is also in the works.

The full-electric EQA will debut later this year, while a number of new plug-in hybrid models wearing Mercedes’ EQ Power label, will appear next month in Geneva, in a move towards the marque’s ‘Ambition 2039’ initiative to offer a CO2-neutral fleet in the next 19 years.
