London Electric Vehicle Company predicts massive growth for 2020

Geely-owned electric vehicle (EV) maker, London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) has forecasted major growth for 2020 following its 2019 sales figures.

After selling more than 2500 of its hybrid TX taxi and shuttle variants across 2019 (up from 1300 in 2018), the marque has begun preparations for a projected further 50 per cent increase in demand in 2020.

LEVC believes it will be selling into 20 markets globally by the end of 2020.

The carmaker already sells the TX in Germany, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Japan and the Middle East.

The marque plans to introduce an all-electric van model to its line-up, joining its hybrid TX taxi and shuttle models based on the iconic London taxi aesthetic.

To accommodate new models and increased demand, LEVC plans to hire more than 100 additional employees for its manufacturing facility in Ansty, England.

The TX's Volvo-sourced 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine and plug-in hybrid powerplant gives a driving range of around 640km and is said to offer weekly running costs of around £100 (AU$196) less than the diesel TX4 taxi cab model.
