Bentley Mulliner Bacalar teased ahead of Geneva reveal

The British luxury marque will reveal a limited edition model inspired by the 5.8m two-door EXP 100 GT concept.

The Bentley Mulliner Bacalar is a new coach-built model set to debut at the 2020 Geneva motor show on March 3, European time.

The company says the new car is a grand touring model featuring "sustainable and ethically-sourced materials", and inspired by the EXP 100 GT concept (below) unveiled in the middle of last year.

Aside from these details, the only other details we can confirm at this stage is that it will have low-profile Pirelli P Zero tyres and it will be built by Bentley's Mulliner division.

A report late last year indicated Bentley was developing a two-seat open-top car inspired by the EXP 100 GT concept. With a price tag set to start from £1.5 million ($2.9 million), production is thought to be limited to 12 vehicles.

While the EXP 100 GT had a fully electric drivetrain with four motors generating a total of 1500Nm, it seems unlikely the Bacalar will eschew internal combustion in favour of electrons.

The Bacalar is tipped to use the company's 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine, which in the current Continental GT and Flying Spur models develops 467kW and 900Nm.

It will be interesting to see how many details from the EXP 100 GT make it through the Bacalar.

The EXP 100 GT was a gigantic beast measuring 5.8 metres long and almost 2.4m wide. That, by the way, makes it longer and wider than the Chevrolet Suburban.

In addition to two metre-long doors that swing up and out, the EXP 100 GT had an interior with wool carpets, copper-infused organic leather-like textiles recycled from the winemaking process, and a crystal centrepiece.
