Mitsubishi Triton GLX-R, GSR: Dual-cab ute range expands

Mitsubishi has expanded the middle and top-end of its Triton line-up, setting its sights on the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux.

The first of the two new models is the Triton GSR, which gets a range of tougher-looking exterior add-ons. There's a set of 18-inch black alloy wheels, a blacked-out grille, and black headlamp trims, door mirrors, doorhandles, and sidesteps.

Drivers also get a surround-view camera, leather seats, a powered driver's seat, and front seat heating.

Owners will be able to option a tan orange interior with orange highlights on the sets, centre console, and knee pads. Pricing will start at $50,990 drive-away – list price is $51,890 before on-road costs.

A trio of options packs will be available, too: a soft tonneau pack ($2699), a hard tonneau pack ($4699), and a roll top tonneau pack ($4999).

The second new Triton model is the GLX-R, which slots between the GLX+ and GLS models in the line-up.

Compared to the GLX+ it gets 18-inch alloy wheels and large fog lamps. There are also chrome door mirrors, front bumper trim, door handles, and a silver front grille.

Pricing starts at $39,990 drive-away for the manual, and $42,290 drive-away for the automatic.

The GLX-R is now in dealerships, with the GLS to follow in March.
