2020 Volvo V90 Cross Country spied

Volvo's high-riding large wagon looks set to receive an update, with some small tweaks to its exterior styling.

Volvo has been snapped testing an updated version of its high-riding V90 Cross Country.

The changes are subtle, but it appears Volvo will treat the jacked-up wagon to a minor refresh with new bumpers at the front and rear.

Like the changes to the bodywork, the head- and taillights also appear to have been given a minor tweak. The taillights have a 3D-effect look to them and different detailing to the current units, although they're still unmistakably Volvo.

Expect to see bigger changes under the skin of the V90 Cross Country. Like the XC90, it's likely to gain a range of mild-hybrid powertrains to join its existing range of plug-in hybrid and petrol engines.

Volvo says the mild hybrid powertrains are good for a 15 per cent improvement in efficiency, and has added the 'B' badge to its stable to denote them.

Inside, the car's infotainment system is expected to gain Android Auto compatibility, while the car's extensive range of semi-autonomous safety systems should be given a boost with features like oncoming lane mitigation.

In Australia, the Cross Country is the only Volvo V90 variant. Just 10 examples were sold in January, compared to 98 new XC90 SUVs.
