2020 BAC Mono One revealed
The single-seat racer has been given one last special edition, as BAC prepares to farewell the Mono this year.
BAC has revealed the Mono One, as it prepares to retire the single-seat racer and replace it with a brand-new model.
Set to debut at the Geneva motor show in March, the Mono One will be built in extremely limited numbers: just three will be made, finished in red, white and black.
Each has its own unique touches, designed to make the Mono into a proper collector's edition. The white car mimics the first Mono, revealed in 2011, while the black example has carbon bodywork, with red contrasting logos, stitching, and wheel decals.
Finally, the red car is – you guessed it – red, with white decals and red detailing.
Each owner will get a one-off helmet with a livery inspired by Bjork, the singer behind the music video that inspired the Mono's distinctive, robot-skin design.
All this exclusivity won't come cheap, however. Pricing kicks off at £158,950 in the UK, equivalent to $307,500.
Power in the Mono One comes from a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine making 227kW, put to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission.
The 100km/h sprint is dispatched in less than three seconds, and you'll be doing 274km/h.
The One represents the end of Mono production for BAC, which says its next car will launch in the middle of 2021.
"Mono One marks the end of a truly incredible era for BAC and, of course, Mono," said Ian Briggs, BAC co-founder.
"We wanted to give Mono the perfect send-off and this car does exactly that – it’s super rare, with only three available, and has endless unique features that make it serious proposition for collectors."
