2021 Hyundai Santa Fe spied

Just days after the all-new Kia Sorento surfaced for the first time, its stablemate from Hyundai has popped up wearing heavy camouflage.

Hyundai has been spied testing an update to its seven-seat Santa Fe crossover, as Kia prepares to reveal the all-new Sorento on the same platform.

It's heavily camouflaged at the moment, but the Santa Fe pictured here appears to have a new grill and slightly more bluff front end than the current model.

The dual-level head- and daytime-running light arrangement appears similar, but the car pictured here also rides on a set of wheels not currently offered on the seven-seat Santa Fe.

There's more than just a hint of Venue about the design of the wheels, but our spy photographer has suggested they could also signal this as a hybrid.

The rumour mill has suggested the updated Santa Fe will be offered with a series- and plug-in hybrid option, although details about both are thin on the ground.

Down back, expect to see minor changes to the car's lighting graphics and bumpers.

The local Hyundai Santa Fe range recently expanded to include a front-wheel drive petrol 3.5-litre V6 powertrain, replacing the existing naturally-aspirated petrol four-pot.

A turbo-diesel option is also available with all-wheel drive, although it does also attract a $3000 premium.

Pricing starts at $43,000 before on-road costs and runs to $60,500 before on-roads for a range-topping Highlander Diesel.
