Formula E reveals Gen 2 Evo car for 2020

Formula E has updated its Gen 2 racer for its upcoming season, with a range of body add-ons designed to make for a more attractive grid.

The EVO will be revealed at the Geneva motor show, and features a new front wing, a new fin behind the driver, and a fresh rear wing.

Unlike Formula 1, where teams invest millions developing their own aerodynamics packages, the entire Formula E grid has the same bodywork fitted to their cars.

There's no mention of changes to the Gen 2's powertrain. That means teams will stick with 250kW e-motors and a 52kWh battery pack, good for a 100km/h sprint of just 2.8 seconds.

Cars top out at 280km/h, but there aren't any straights on the Formula E calendar long enough to get close to that v-max.

The burgeoning category has attracted a number of high-profile carmakers of late, with Mercedes-Benz preparing to join Audi, BMW and Porsche on the grid later this year.

The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance has been involved since day one, along with Mahindra.
