2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift leaked undisguised

New grille and tail-light designs seen on updated sedan will likely appear on the next-generation C- and S-Class models too.

Undisguised photos of the updated Mercedes-Benz E-Class have been leaked online.

These photos published on the Cochespias Instagram account seem to be taken at a Mercedes-Benz factory or development facility.

If accurate, the facelifted E-Class will sport a redesigned front end with reshaped headlight units, a new bonnet with two extra bulges on either side of the centre line, and, of course, a remodelled bumper.

At the rear, the tall, floating tail-light clusters have been replaced by thin, but wide, strips of lights stretching into the boot lid. Interestingly, one of the cars pictured appears to be an AMG 63 model.

To go with a subtly redone rear bumper, there's a more boldly-styled and chrome-laden diffuser section complete with four squared-off exhaust tips.

From these images, as well as earlier spy photos, it doesn't seem as though the doors or flanks will be altered in any significant way.

For comparison's sake, this is the current E-Class sedan:

With Gordon Wagner, head of design at Mercedes-Benz, confirming to CarAdvice last year the styling of the C-, E- and S-Class will stay closely related into the next generation, we fully expect to see these styling elements — especially the grille and tail-lights — filter through to the E's smaller and larger siblings when they are renewed.
