2021 Kia Sorento spied without disguise, Australian debut later this year

These new shots offer an unadulterated look at the big new SUV's front and rear styling, along with a revealing look at its dashboard and front seating row.

Up front, and as expected, the new Sorento wears a look that clearly positions it as the new Seltos small SUV's big brother, suggesting we can expect similar from the next Sportage – and likely in a future facelift for the incoming Stonic.

For the Sorento, that means a more upright and integrated face than the current model, with a wide grille filled with large U-shaped patterning. Slender, high-mounted headlights flank the grille, all of it wrapped in a slim chrome frame.

At the rear, vertical Telluride-inspired tail lamps sit far outboard on an otherwise undecorated rump.

Inside, the new Sorento takes on a more premium yet utilitarian look, with hints of Range Rover, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz inspiration.

A wide main display sits above heavily satin silver-framed vents, while a large rotary transmission dial dominates the centre console.

Little else is known about the new large SUV, although reports suggest we will see hybrid and plug-in hybrid EV variants join the range, alongside petrol and diesel options.

It’s unclear whether the new range will feature revised versions of the current 2.2-litre turbo-diesel and 3.5-litre V6 options, or new motors from the Hyundai/Kia ‘Smartstream’ family.

It is likewise not clear if all markets will be offered all power options.

Watch for the new Kia Sorento to make its world debut in the coming weeks, likely at a standalone event in Korea.

As for Australia, Kia has confirmed we'll see the new model here from the third quarter of 2020.
