BMW Australia adds four new cut-price M Pure variants

Joining the M550i xDrive Pure, the new variants will be M340i xDrive Pure, X2 M35i Pure, X5 M50i Pure and X6 M50i Pure.

Each model will keep the same powertrain as offered in the model they are based on, but with a different level of equipment, coming in at a lower price. All variants have an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The X2 M35i Pure is priced from $64,400 before on-road costs and come with 20-inch M light alloy wheels, M Sport brakes, M Sport differential with front limited slip differential, and M Sport suspension.

Creature comforts include an automatic tailgate, head-up display, M Sport seats, BMW Individual High-Gloss Shadow Line, and BMW Individual Headliner Anthracite.

Power in the X2 M35i Pure is provided by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged 225kW/450Nm engine found in the $69,400 X2 M35i.

Over to the $94,900 M340i xDrive Pure ($10,000 more than the M340i, pictured), and it comes with 19-inch M light alloy wheels, M Sport brakes, M Sport differential, comfort access, wireless smartphone charging, BMW individual headliner anthracite, and sport seats with Sensatec/Alcantara upholstery.

To make the drive easier, the M340i xDrive Pure also includes adaptive LED headlights, driving assistant professional (forward collision warning and active cruise control), parking assistant plus, and head-up display. A 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo engine with 285kW and 500Nm is found under the bonnet. 

Moving up in the range to the $136,900 X5 M50i Pure, and features begin to pile on, with 22-inch M light alloy wheels, M Sport brakes, M Sport differential, M Sport exhaust system, M Sport steering, and adaptive M suspension.

Also adding to standard features are comfort access, ambient lighting, heated front seats, electric seat adjustment with memory function, Driving Assistant Professional, parking assistant plus, adaptive LED headlights, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW individual high-gloss shadow line, panorama glass sunroof, and wireless smartphone charging.

It comes at a $15,000 decrease on the M50i (pictured), with a 4.4-litre V8 engine pumping out a mammoth 390kW and 750Nm with a 4.3 second dash from 0-100km/h.

Lastly, the range-topping X6 M50i Pure gets all the equipment of the X5 M50i Pure, but adds an automatic tailgate, front sports seats, and head up display.

Powering the X6 M50i Pure is the same as the X6 M50i; a twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8 engine with 390kW and 750Nm, matched with an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It is $15,000 less than the X6 M50i. 

The four new M Pure variants are available to order now.

BMW M models saw a 40 per cent sales increase in Australia in 2019, and with the lineup growing even more this year with the addition of the M8 Competition Coupé, M8 Competition Gran Coupé, X5 M Competition, X6 M Competition and M2 CS, there will be even more choice for diehard M enthusiasts.
