2012 Porsche Boxster spied

Porsche was recently caught testing the upcoming 2012 Porsche Boxter, which is scheduled to be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Car Show. The new car has been snapped before, but these new images are much more revealing.

The tail lights are said to be fake but the body panels are new and do resemble those of the upcoming production car.

Porsche has recently revealed the company is considering a full-electric version, although, spy images so far haven't been able to capture any testing. The new generation Boxster here is likely to be using a four cylinder engine or the usual six cylinder.

This car proves Porsche is more attended to evolving models rather than producing an all-out dramatically-changed new model. Looking at the rear deck though, there seems to be a flatter engine compartment lid with just one reversed vent.

The rear skirt is an new addition, incorporating a diffuser on each side of the twin-outlet exhaust. From the angle above, the front guard and nose of the car seems steeper than current and previous Boxsters too, looking more like a 911.

New engine packages are rumoured to be almost identical to the current crop although minor tweaks are likely to be offered, as per usual Porsche model update; somehow the company always finds more power whilst improving fuel economy.

From the angle above you can see the new rear extension and diffuser more clearly. The new model, along with more details on the electric version, will be released on the approach of the Geneva show.
