The world’s cutest Suzuki Jimnys are coming to Australia

The quirky off-roader has always been about fun, but now owners can play with its looks in a whole new way.

Just in case you don’t find Suzuki’s mini-off-roader cute and charismatic enough, Japanese auto styling house DAMD Inc now offers dress-up kits to make your JB64 series Suzuki Jimny look like, well, a number of different classic off-roaders.

There are currently two kits on offer: ‘Little-D’, a nod to the classic Land Rover Defender, and ‘Mini-G’, which sports the sleek, yet boxy, features of a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. The comprehensive kits include body panels, grilles and emblems that can be had as a full package or purchased individually.

The Australian distributor for the kits, Garage 88 in Sydney's Eastern Creek, says it has already received one order for a Defender look-alike locally and is waiting on parts to arrive before pimping out its first Jimny.

A Little-D kit will set you back $5870 for a package that includes panels, grille, mud flaps, emblems and a number plate relocation to mirror that found on the Defender.

Little-G comes in at the $5865 mark with panels, grille, sidesteps, badges and a very neat spare wheel cover for the rear hatch. Just like the original.

The wheels seen on DAMD Inc’s website are not included in the Australian-delivered kits, as Garage88 believes there are better and more economical options that can be sourced locally. However, for owners who are set on having the DAMD Inc offering, Garage 88 will gladly have them brought over with the rest of the kit.

Fitment of the kits will run you between $1500-$3000 through Garage88, or if you're a dab hand with the tools, you can install the kits yourself.

DAMD Inc’s website lists only basic mounting hardware and tools for installation, so transforming your Jimny could be an easy and inexpensive Sunday driveway expedition for the keen DIYer – and the more Little-Ds and Mini-Gs on the road, the better!

DAMD Inc is also currently developing two more kits for the Jimny, slated for release some time in 2020.

The ‘Dronco’, a dead-ringer for a circa-1970 Ford Bronco, and the ‘Roots’, which pays homage to the original LJ10 Jimny.

Details and pricing are not available for the Dronco or Roots kits yet but hopefully we'll see them roaming Australian streets sooner rather and later.

And for those not sold on restyled Jimnys, and who prefer the look and style of classic French hatchbacks, DAMD Inc in Japan also produces a kit designed to turn your little Suzuki Lapin kei car into a retro-styled Renault 4.
