Aston Martin announces new V12 Speedster

The limited-edition Speedster will be available to only 88 customers globally.

British carmaker Aston Martin has announced plans to produce a new, limited-edition supercar named the V12 Speedster, releasing a stylised illustration that features neither a roof nor a conventional windshield.

Aston Martin claims the two-seater, set to debut later this year, is a nod to the brand's iconic DBR1 and CC100 Speedster centenary concept car (released back in 2013).

It will be driven by a 5.2-litre V12 twin-turbo engine delivering 522kW and 700Nm – a little shy of the 533kW and 900Nm on offer in the DBS Superleggera, but a good upgrade on the DB11's 447kW (and a match for its 700Nm).

A ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive will round out the core details.

Only 88 Aston Martin V12 Speedsters will be produced and those interested can place orders now, with deliveries scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2021.

This Aston Martin news follows McLaren's announcement in late 2019 that it too will be producing a limited-edition car with an open cockpit, the Elva roadster, with 399 examples to be built.
