Arctic Trucks HiLux making Australian debut

The unbreakable Toyota HiLux which conquered the North Pole and drove up to the mouth of the Iceland volcano is now set to tackle Sydney as a feature of this year's Australian International Motor Show.

Prepared by Iceland-based company Arctic Tucks, the specially modified double-cab 3.0-litre turbo-diesel HiLux can cope in extreme terrain and temperatures.

It's abilities were put to the ultimate test by the Top Gear team on two seperate occasions on both fire and ice.

The first expedition saw Jeremy Clarkson and James May undertake a 360-nautical mile journey to the North Pole, encountering hidden blocks of ice and temperatures as low as minus 36oC - also accopanied by a Toyota Landcruiser Prado.

The Arctic Trucks HiLux next high-profile endeavour saw it conquer the volcano which stopped the world - Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull volcano - which not only proved to be great entertainment with James May behind the wheel, but was also put to practical use by ferrying scientists racing to set up monitoring equipment.

The Australian International Motor Show runs from October 15-24.
