Chrysler kills the PT Cruiser

After Daimler sold nearly 80 percent stake in Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management LP earlier this year, Chrysler has seen some major changes. The company has started by axing poor performing models.

So far the Dodge Magnum, the Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible, Chrysler Pacifica and Chrysler Crossfire have already seen the end.

News from the Wall Street Journal confirms Chrysler executives have now decided to kill the entire PT Cruiser line after the 2009 model year. The PT Cruiser came to Australia in mid-2000s to much fan fare, but seven years on, the Cruiser has started to lose its appeal.

In the U.S. nearly 1000 dealers are also expected to go as the company plans to sell passenger cars under the Chrysler name, sell pickup and commercial trucks under Dodge and SUVs under Jeep.
