2007-12 Hyundai i30: More than 106,000 cars recalled
A problem with the airbag control unit in the 2007-12 i30 has forced Hyundai to recall 106,441 cars
Hyundai Australia has recalled more than 106,000 examples of the 2007-12 i30, over concerns the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners could inadvertently fire.
According to the company, "improper programming" of the airbag control unit (ACU) could make the driver and passenger airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners deploy when there's been no accident.
If the airbag fires randomly, there's an increased risk of accident for both the driver and other road users.
This recall is not related to the long-running Takata airbag recall.
A total of 106,441 cars are included in the recall – a VIN list is attached here.
Hyundai Australia will contact owners and advise them to organise for the ACU to be reprogrammed.
