2021 Cadillac Escalade to feature 38-inch curved OLED screen

An attention-grabbing display will help to differentiate the giant Cadillac from its Chevrolet and GMC siblings.

The next-generation Cadillac Escalade will have a curved OLED display measuring 38 inches diagonally.

OLED technology is typically found on smaller consumer devices, such as smartphones and smartwatches. Without the need for a backlight, OLED screens have deeoper blacks, and can be more easily made into interesting shapes.

This teaser image (above) was revealed barely a week after a factory leak revealed the basic design of new Escalade's exterior and interior. The large Cadillac will have a unique dashboard, centre console and door trims, as well as a distinct front-end design.

From last week's slightly grainy smartphone photos, we can see the Escalade will have an OLED display wrapping around, what looks to be, a separate instrumentation screen.

By contrast, the largest touchscreen available on the new Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban is a 10.0-inch unit.

As before, the new Escalade is body-on-frame SUV sharing much with the latest Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, as well as the yet-to-be-unveiled GMC Yukon.

Three powertrains have been confirmed for the Tahoe and Suburban: a 265kW/519Nm 5.3-litre V8, a 313kW/623Nm 6.2-litre V8 and a 207kW/623Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel straight-six.

If the current generation is anything to go by, the Escalade will only be available with the 6.2-litre V8.

The new Escalade will be unveiled on February 4, 2020 in Los Angeles, but won't go on sale in the US until late 2020.

GM has also confirmed the GMC Yukon will be unveiled on January 14, 2020.
