Audi celebrates RS2 with ‘Anniversary Package’

It's been 25 years since Audi released the RS2, and it's turning its RS range blue to celebrate.

It's been a quarter of a century since Audi released the RS2 Avant, the first in a long line of pumped-up, practical performance cars to wear the RS badge.

Powered by a five-cylinder turbocharged engine, the RS2 made 235kW of power and boasted an "extravagant interior design" to go with its bright blue paintwork.

The only five-cylinder models in Audi's current RS line-up are the RS3 and TT RS – the RS4 and RS5 are powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine, the RS6, RS7, and RSQ8 pack eight-cylinder power.

Offered across the Audi TT RS, RS4, RS5, RS6 and RS7 line-ups, the RS Anniversary Package brings matte aluminium inlays for the aero blades, side skirts, and rear diffuser inserts, while the exterior trim highlights are finished in gloss black.

Although Audi offers the package in a range of colours, the highlight is undoubtedly the RS2-aping shade of Nogaro blue pictured here.

The traditional RS logo has been updated with a '25' add-on, too, and features on the wheel hubs, seat backs, door inlays, and puddle lighting.

Audi will offer the package to customers in Europe, with prices starting at €9350 ($15,000).
