Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign: Production version revealed

The first renders of the production version of the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign have been released ahead of the car's in-the-flesh debut at next year's Geneva motor show in March.

The GT-R50 is meant celebrate the 50th anniversary of Italdesign, which took place in 2018, and the GT-R's 50th birthday this year.

There are few changes from the concept, which made its debut at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The only ones we can spot are the slightly altered headlight graphics, and the reflector strips added to the rear bumper.

Under the bonnet, the GT-R50 is powered by a hand-built version of the company's 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6, which has been tuned by Nismo to deliver 530kW of power and 780Nm of torque, a sizeable step up from the GT-R Nismo's 447kW/652Nm.

The concept car was also fitted with a reinforced dual-clutch six-speed rear transaxle, stronger differential and drive shafts, Bilstein DampTronic adaptive dampers, and Brembo brakes with red-painted calipers.

Production of the GT-R50 is limited to just 50 cars with pricing starting from €990,000 ($1.6 million). Nissan says it has taken "a significant number of deposits", but there are a "limited number of reservations ... still available".

Depending on the certification and homologation processes of certain markets, Nissan expects all GT-R50 coupes to be delivered between late 2020 and late 2021.
