2021 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer interior spied

Small people mover will retain its space-efficient layout, but will come with the company's latest infotainment technology.

The next-generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has been spied again, but this time around the spy photographers managed to grab a look at the new people mover's interior.

The interior is far from being production ready with plenty of hard plastic pieces, especially on the doors, but it gives us a good indication of what the final product will look like.

Ahead of the driver in this car is a temporary-looking digital instrumentation screen. There's also a free-standing infotainment touchscreen, while in the centre tunnel there's a little switch, like the one on the iNext concept, to control the vehicle's transmission.

As far as the exterior goes, this prototype has the same level of disguise as the vehicle spied back in September.

The overall silhouette remains the same as before, with a raised roof to maximise interior space paired with a steeply raked bonnet and front windscreen.

Notable design changes include the use of flagpole wing mirrors, lift-up door handles, slimmer tail-lights, and a wider grille with fused-together kidneys.

Under the skin, the new 2 Series Active Tourer will share its front- and all-wheel drive architecture with the latest 1 Series hatch, as well as the X1 and X2 crossovers.

Power should come from a selection of turbocharged three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with a plug-in hybrid option likely to be available at some stage.
