2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA interior teased

The new Mercedes-Benz crossover will be less like a hatch on stilts, and have an interior very similar to the GLB's.

The interior of the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA has been teased ahead of its launch on December 11, European time.

Overnight Mercedes-Benz released a partial shot of the new crossover's interior, touting the availability of an exit warning system, which can warn passengers of an approaching car, bike or pedestrian when they're attempting to alight.

As we can see in the photo, the GLA will have an interior that seems to be largely carried over from the GLB. There's red stitching on the dashboard and door panels, round metal-look air vents, and a digital instrumentation screen.

Like other recent Mercedes-Benz offerings, the instrumentation display will likely be located in the same free-standing support as its MBUX touchscreen infotainment unit.

The next-generation GLA will be eighth car to make use of the MFA II front- and all-wheel drive architecture, following on from the A-Class sedan, LWB sedan for China and hatch, CLA sedan and wagon, B-Class people mover, and GLB seven-seat crossover.

As with other MFA II vehicles, the GLA should be available with a selection of turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with a plug-in hybrid model also likely.

Based on an earlier teaser of the car's side profile, as well as a prototype drive, the new GLA will ditch the current car's lifted hatchback design for a more traditional and upright crossover look.
