The new Honda Accord has finally arrived in Australia, with hybrid power and price tag that throws it into battle with the Kia Stinger and Skoda Superb.
Only one trim level will be available, with pricing to start at $47,990 before on-road costs for the Accord VTi-LX with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 140kW and 260Nm. It sends power to the front wheels through a CVT transmission.
Pricing for the Hybrid kicks off at $50,490 before on-road costs. The VTi-LX Hybrid combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with two electric motors, for combined outputs of 158kW and 315Nm.
Standard equipment for both models includes keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, a head-up display, and smartphone mirroring through the 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Honda Sensing is also standard, with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, driver attention monitoring, a surround-view camera, and a rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines.
Compared to the outgoing Accord, the new model is 26mm shorter, but rides on a 55mm longer wheelbase and a 12mm wider body. Boot space is also up, to 570L.
Honda says the new Accord is significantly quieter inside, thanks to full underbody sealing, insulation in the wheel arches, sound-absorbing carpet, acoustic windscreen glass, and active noise cancellation.
