2015-16 Volkswagen Tiguan, Passat CC recalled

A faulty condenser within the airbag control unit has forced a recall on 1765 vehicles.

Volkswagen Australia has recalled the 2015-16 Tiguan and 2015 Passat CC, over concerns about the condenser in their airbag control unit.

According to the company, there's a risk the cars have a faulty airbag condenser. If a faulty condenser is fitted the airbag could deactivate, or the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners could inadvertently fire, as the car interprets the faulty part as a signal there's been a crash.

Both these cases increase the risk of injury or accident.

A total of 1765 vehicles are included in the recall – a VIN list is attached here.

Volkswagen will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.
