2020 Toyota C-HR pricing and specs

The updated compact crossover get a light visual overhaul to signal the arrival of a hybrid model, the eighth in Toyota Australia’s lineup.

Toyota has added a hybrid to the 2020 C-HR line-up, following in the footsteps of the Camry, Corolla, and larger RAV4 SUV.

At a glance, the updated 2020 model year entry-level C-HR wears a fresh face with a new front bumper and revised LED headlights.

New twin spoke 17-inch alloy wheels feature on low-grade cars, while the up-spec C-HR Koba rolls on new 18-inch alloy wheels in a two-tone finish, and scores redesigned LED tail lights.

Inside Toyota has ditched the previous 6.1-inch infotainment system and added a new 8.0-inch display loaded with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring.

Prices rise slightly, with the C-HR two-wheel drive CVT automatic now starting from $29,540 plus on-road costs (up $550) – the price-leading C-HR manual has been discontinued. All-wheel drive is available for an extra $2000.

As before, petrol C-HR models are powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 85kW of power and 185Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.4L/100km for 2WD variants and 6.5L/100km for AWD models.

Unlike other mainstream Toyota model lines with multiple hybrid trim levels, the Koba 2WD is the sole C-HR model (for now) available with a petrol-electric hybrid option, sitting alongside Koba 2WD and AWD petrol configurations.

The hybrid system is the familiar 1.8-litre setup as seen in the Corolla Hybrid.

The petrol engine itself is rated at 72kW and 142Nm, but when combined with the electric motor peak power is rated at a combined 90kW. Fuel consumption is listed at 4.3L/100km.

Standard equipment on the C-HR includes cloth-trimmed sports seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel adjustable for tilt and reach, self-dimming interior mirror, heated power folding door mirrors, auto LED headlights, dual zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and an electric park brake.

Along with the aforementioned smartphone capabilities, the infotainment system features AM/FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, inbuilt voice recognition, satellite navigation with SUNA live traffic, and six-speaker audio.

Safety tech incorporates seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking (dubbed pre-collision safety system) with pedestrian detection, reversing camera, all-speed adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, lane departure alert with steering assist, auto high beam, and parking sensors front and rear.

Stepping up to the C-HR Koba adds keyless entry and start, a panoramic view camera, leather accented upholstery, and front seat heating with electric lumbar support for the driver.
