Liam Murphy • The Ferrari 812 GTS Spider V12 has arrived in Australian showrooms, however it will be a year before the first customers will take delivery of their cars.

The display model was on a flying visit to show customers who have already placed orders, and to attract interest from new buyers.

The first shipment of cars is already accounted for after buyers placed deposits more than a year ago without even knowing the price.

Ferrari confirmed this week the 812 GTS Spider will cost $675,888 plus stamp duty and on-road costs.

That's a $65,000 price premium over the 812 Superfast coupe on which it is based.

Unlike other Ferraris, the company says buyers don’t need to have owned a Ferrari before.

“You don’t have to have an existing Ferrari garage (collection). You can be a new Ferrari owner to purchase this,” said Ferrari Australia media representative Nicole Craig.

“This is to open the door for new Ferrari owners as well.”

As CarAdvice has previously reported, the 812 GTS Spider’s V12 has the same output as the Superfast coupe on which it is based, with 588kW of power and 718Nm of torque. The redline stops at 8900rpm.

Ferrari claims the naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 is the most powerful production V12 available today. It is also believed to be the most powerful convertible in automotive history.

Ferrari claims top speed is in excess of 340km/h, and says the GTS will do the 100km/h sprint in 3.0 seconds.
