Aspark Owl: Electric hypercar makes production debut
Boasting a total of 1480kW from its four motors, the Japanese hypercar can reportedly hit 60mph (97km/h) in 1.69 seconds.
The production version of the Aspark Owl made its debut at the 2019 Dubai motor show this week.
With four electric motors, the Aspark Owl has a total of 1480kW of power and 2000Nm of torque.
Using road-legal tyres, the startup automaker says the hypercar can accelerate from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in 1.69 seconds and hit 300km/h in 10.6s, while top speed is claimed to be 400km/h.
Equipped with a 64kW lithium-ion battery pack, the Owl is said to have a driving range of 400km using the generous NEDC testing cycle.
Made from carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) and fitted with standard carbon ceramic disc brakes, the Owl has a dry weight of 1900kg.
While the concept revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show had a large fixed rear wing, the production Owl features an active spoiler which pops up at 150km/h and retracts back at 100km/h.
Other changes include more functional side windows, wing mirrors, and numerous design modifications to meet performance targets and global regulations.
With a height of just 993mm, buyers may need a few extra yoga sessions in order to comfortably enter and exit the vehicle.
Just 50 Owl coupes will be made by Manifattura Automobili Torino in Italy. Pricing starts from €2.9 million ($4.7 million), and all vehicles are fully customisable.
Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin during the second quarter of 2020.
