Secretary of State drives Aston Martin DBS

The UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation & Skills, Vince Cable has always wanted to drive an Aston Martin (who doesn’t), which he only realised this week, on an informal visit to Aston’s global headquarters in Gaydon where he got a steer in the flagship DBS Volante.

The company has around 1300 people on its employment books, most of who work at the Gaydon facility, although the new 4-door Rapide will be built in Austria at the sophisticated Magna Steyr factory.

Aston Martin’s current model line-up includes, the DBS, DB9, Vantage and the Rapide. There are also a number of model variants and several race spec editions, which add to the company stable, with exports accounting for just on 75% of the annual production volume.
